You need to understand the factors that make businesses successful to see where your role fits into the bigger picture of the whole organisation. Employers expect you to show that you are proactive in meeting the needs of all kinds of customers, both internal and external.

The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) defines business and customer awareness skills as a basic understanding of the key drivers for business success including:

  • the importance of innovation and taking calculated risks
  • the need to provide customer satisfaction and build customer loyalty
